Reviewing is not doing PR work.
Claqueta Ácida was born in the darkest corners of movie theaters as an antidote to Hollywood's uniform marketing campaigns and the condescending conformism of festivals. We are not paid to applaud, we don't swap stars for appetizers, and we owe nothing to any studio.
We firmly believe in the viewer's right to receive an honest diagnosis. We dissect movies and series with irony, cynicism, and a narrative scalpel that isn't afraid to cut to the chase. If a work is corporate garbage, we will say it loud. If it's a misunderstood masterpiece, we will defend it with the same intellectual venom.
🧪 The Acidity Scale
Our ratings are not arbitrary. They are based on a highly scientific algorithm that measures the quantity of antacids our team needs to consume after surviving a screening:
Total Annihilation
The movie actively damages neurons. The script insults intelligence, and the actors seem like the director's hostages.
Tolerable Mediocrity
Passable cinema. Doesn't cause rashes but doesn't spark any enthusiasm either. Typical billboard filler.
Cult Gems
Finally something worthy! High quality, visually and narratively daring works that temporarily soothe our cynicism.
✍️ Our Destructive Critics
Nobody signs anonymously or generically. Each critic has their own pathological profile and a very particular taste in celluloid:
Dante Sangre
Ruthless critic and absolute nihilist. Tears down commercial cinema with dark humor sharp as a scalpel, despising Hollywood's marketing talk.
Bastian Noir
Specialist in body horror, analog psychological thrillers, and the visceral. Analyzes the textures of human decay with biological metaphors and blood.
Odin Lagbert
Elitist cinephile and insufferable academic. Devoted to the Nouvelle Vague and obscure Romanian cult directors. Deeply despises popcorn.
Héctor Veneno
Sarcastic and fierce, but with a genuine and hidden love for the seventh art. Dissects movies with a narrative scalpel, celebrating talent and thrashing mediocrity.
Valeria Von Doom
Sophisticated, ironic, and deadly elegant. Regards cinema as haute couture and mediocre productions as grease stains on a Klimt painting.
Lúa Ácida
Specialist in transgressive horror cinema and debut directors. Her mission is to find beauty in the grotesque and celebrate cinema that makes your stomach turn.
Camilo K.O.
Writer specializing in action and hard-hitting thrillers. His prose goes straight to the jugular, without academic flourishes or intellectual mercy.
Maximiliano Z.
Devotee of black-and-white classics and forgotten cinematic gems. Considers any film made after 1970 to be modern and highly suspicious.
Dr. Cinismo
Festival analyst and cultural controversy expert. His level of cynicism is matched only by his ability to detect commercial pretentiousness in movie theaters.
